Giwa FC knew they just must grab all three points against troubled El-kanemi Warriors and that was exactly what they achieved to keep within shouting reach of table topping Enyimba International after games of Match Day 34 were concluded.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists also knew they needed an outright win to make amends for their faltering performance in Port Harcourt. They also got the result they desired reports www.npfl.ng

But the most important game of the match day ended in a goalless draw but its significance reverberated may count when the curtain is to be drawn on the season. Table topping Enyimba were away to Nasarawa United in what unarguably was the Match day's most anticipated fixture.

Would the visitors survive the firepower of the Solid Miners who have in recent times become synonymous with downing the great and mighty? But after a gruesome 90 minutes, the Aba side showed the resilience that their title hunt demanded, bagged an away point that stretches their lead over closest rivals Warri Wolves to six points at least for twelve hours.

That lead could be halved this morning when the Seasiders play visiting Akwa United. Heavy rains upset proceedings just before kickoff, leaving match officials no option but to reschedule. If ever Wolves needed extra motivation to beat their visitors and keep their title hopes, surely that result in Lafia would be the perfect adrenalin shot.

Chasing duo Giwa and Wikki Tourists both kept their Continental dreams alive breaking off the fierce resistance of El-Kanemi Warriors and FC Ifeanyi Ubah respectively with both games ending with the identical score line of 2-1. Charles Okoro handed Giwa a lead at the stroke of halftime before Dauda Eboh drew the home side level four minutes after the restart. But Giwa would have the last laugh thanks to Ocheme Edoh who restored their lead which they preserved albeit with ten men. For Wikki, Uche Martins bailed them with a ninetieth minute winner after Odera Oyiri had canceled out Victor Yakubu's 23rd minute strike.

In Port Harcourt Ghanian born striker Godbless Asamoah scored his second and third goals against Kano Pillars this season after the defending Champions had taken a shock lead through a swift counter just after the hour mark. But like they did in Kano earlier in the season, the relegation troubled Dolphins completed a turn around to help strengthen their hopes of surviving the drop. It however was bad news for their neighbors Sharks who fell short in Owerri against Heartland, Fortune Omoniwari's 4th minute strike doing the damage against his former employers.

Abia Warriors midfielder Ifeanyi Onyeali just back from a lengthy layoff, inspired his team to a 2-0 win over Lobi Stars. Nigerian Under-23 star Ndifreke Effiong would get the second five minutes before time. In Ibadan, Ibrahim Salawu's brilliant free kick condemned FC Taraba to yet another defeat. With four games to go, the Jalingo side's fate is all but sealed.
It is also all but sealed for both Kwara United and Bayelsa United who played out a 1-1 draw in Ilorin.
